Kids brighten up winter, Diamond Valley Leader

WATSONIA Pre-School students will be parading their own lantern creations this Saturday, as part of a special Winter Solstice event.

Committee member Andrea Dato said the winter market and lantern parade fundraiser helped the preschool engage with the community.

Mrs Dato said the event was open to everyone, with $5 required to participate in the children’s lantern parade.

“We really encourage all kids to bring their own lanterns and join in,” Mrs Dato said.

“We also have Adam Wallace, who is an awardwinning children’s writer and cartoonist, coming down to give prizes for the most creative lantern designs.”

The indoor winter market will be open from 2pm, followed by a raffle.

The lantern parade starts at about 5.30pm.

The event is at Watsonia Primary School, 240 Nell St West.
