Jacqui Lambie on the 7:30 Report- Practice Hard News Story

Hi readers!

This is yet another practice hard news story by me! This time the event did happen- if you’re interested in watching Jacqui Lambie being interviewed on ABC’s 7:30 Report last May here’s the link: http://www.abc.net.au/7.30/content/2014/s4008557.htm

My report on the interview, though, is just here.

So please have a read!

Palmer United Party’s Jacqui Lambie said Tony Abbott and Joe Hockey are “nothing less than deceitful, lying politicians.”

Appearing on ABC’s 7:30 Report last night, Ms. Lambie criticised the Prime Minister and Treasurer’s handling of the Federal Budget.

“They’re running around like chooks with their heads cut off,” said Ms. Lambie.

The Senator-Elect criticised the cuts on welfare payments.

“Calm down Cowboy Joe [Hockey],” said Lambie. “Hitting welfare like there’s no tomorrow is not the answer.”

Ms. Lambie said taking away welfare will “create national unrest and unemployment”.

The Senator-Elect instead wanted to “look at other avenues” as opposed to proposed welfare reform.

This included calls for “extra taxes” to be placed on Australia’s banks.

“Why aren’t we hitting people like the big banks?” said Ms. Lambie. “A tax on banks is certainly something I would be prepared to look at.”

Lambie stressed the taxes should “not be passed down to the consumer”.

“You would put in legislation so wasn’t passed down to them,” said Lambie. “The big banks making all these profits will pay more into the country.”

When questioned if Clive Palmer supported this idea, Ms. Lambie was unable to answer.

“I haven’t actually spoken to Clive Palmer about that one yet,” said Lambie.
